Spreading Holiday Cheer, Despite COVID-19
Since 2012, LinkNow Media has partnered with the Batshaw Youth and Family Centres Foundation to provide Christmas gifts to children in need. For eight years, our merry little office has come together to buy, wrap, and deliver gifts to foster children across Montreal and Quebec.
Things are a little different this year, but we’re proud to say we’re keeping that tradition alive. For the ninth year in a row, LinkNow Media is working with Batshaw to raise donations and spread a little holiday cheer. The world has changed, sure. But the human spirit hasn’t.
The Goal
Last year, our goal was to raise $30,000 and send 300 gifts to the children in our provincial foster care system. We managed to set a company record, raising $28,000 and sending 750 gifts.
Our goal for 2020 is no less ambitious. We’re aiming to raise another $30,000 and send 500 gifts. It’s a monumental task. Considering the damage COVID’s inflicted on our lives and communities, we know it’s a lot of money. But we at LinkNow are fortunate to be in a position to give back. We’re in a position to help those who need it most—and we plan to take full advantage of it.
Giving Back in Tough Times
We are living through an unprecedented crisis in our health, economic, and social systems. Everyone has had to adapt to the new normal, and LinkNow is no exception.
Normally, December is a time for celebration and charity for us at the office. Normally, right around now, we'd be rallying together in the office, packing and wrapping gifts for the children. We'd also be getting ready to host our annual LinkNow Media talent show, with the proceeds going to the Batshaw Foundation. In a couple of weeks, we'd normally be enjoying our annual holiday party, again with proceeds going to Batshaw.
Needless to say, none of those things can go forward this year. We can't do the talent show. We can't do the holiday party. But what we can do, is keep the holiday spirit alive.
This year, LinkNow took the historic step to migrate all staff gift donations to an online platform. We've also migrated our donation fundraising to Batshaw's online portal so that friends, families, and neighbours of staff can all contribute without putting their health at risk. It's meant a lot of after-hours work from our staff. But if it means making a child's Christmas? Here at LinkNow, we think it's well worth it.

We know our goal of $30,000 is a huge effort. But we're in the fortunate position to be able to give back to our community. We have the chance to help those who most need a little holiday cheer this year.
But we can't do it alone.
To reach our goal, we're asking for donations from businesses, community members, and others who can help. We know this year's been tough and that not everyone is in a position to give.
